Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 HDMI/DVI-I/VGA PCI-Express Graphics Card 100292DDR3L

I just used this to replace/upgrade onboard graphics for one of our older desktops (eMachines 1831 series). The performance index shows 'graphics' gained nearly two points and the 'gaming graphics' score nearly doubled! The 'memory' score even went up around half a point, I presume because the card is more capable without requiring as much of the mobo resources. At any rate, the video performance is noticeably improved in everyday use such as loading pages, HD videos, and games that are appropriate for this machine. Add to that the super low power consumption, lack of a noisy fan, and $15 back on the rebate offer and there's great value here for a measly $20. I did not use the included disk as I assumed the drivers would be quite old anyway so I just went to AMD and used the latest drivers. The physical install along with drivers and a reboot took less than ten minutes and I'm VERY pleased with this little card right now.

I bought this to upgrade my HTPC. I don't know much about computer hardware or video cards but this card works perfectly for my little computer. Orignally my only need was for a single HDMI port. My mobo had a HDMI out but the video stuttering frustrated me beyond compare. The cpu is underpowered/underwhelming so I wanted to a less taxing way of watching videos. So my options were graphic card or upgrade cpu. At the time I really could only afford the graphics card.

I found this the 256MB version on sale with a rebate but having seen differences between 512MB and the 1GB cards I went with the 1GB version instead. This card freed up cpu usage to a startling degree and now I can easily watch 1080p wihout fear of stuttering (due to cpu/rendering). I have had this for 3 months now I would still rate this 5 out of 5 for HTPC or general video usage. I'm not commenting on gaming performance since I don't game on this particular machine. Once I upgrade the CPU and mobo I definitely will try!
